Stan C. Reade has alot to celebrate this year, 50 years helping you create photo memories and our 16th annual Photo Day.  The Photo Day tradition came out of the idea of creating ways to share photo techniques, workshops and seminars with people interested in photography.  Digital is now a big part photography and our tradition of sharing techniques, ideas and creative ways to use your camera continues.

At this year's event you will be able to try different types of photography, action, still life, macro, close-up, models, and fashion.  Throughout the day we will be offering workshops and seminars on Digital, Photo and Scrapbooking.

Don't have that perfect camera yet, need to see a few and compare, we can do that for you too.  Sale Representitaves from Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Leica, Fuji, Tamron, Manfrotto, B+W, Gitzo, Lexar, Hitachi Micro Drives, Daymen, Lowepro, Photogenic, Expodisk, Booth Photographic, Epson, Opus, Stroboframe, Tiffen,and Tamrac just to name a few will be on hand for product demonstrations.  You will have a chance to try out the latest in Digital and Photo Cameras, Lenses, Flash Units, Tripods and Accessories. 

We will also have a retail section with new and used digital and photo products and photo day sale items.  If you are looking for used equipment come try your hand at bidding during our silent auction.

Equipment to Test:
With a drivers license and a credit card  you may try out some of the equipment that our manufacturers have on display.  Bring your camera and test out that lens you have been thinking about, or not sure about digital well now is your chance to take one for a test drive.

Sale Representitaves:
Sale representitiaves from Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, Fuji, Tamron, Manfrotto, Amplis, Hahnemuhle Paper, Epson, LowePro, Scandisk, B+W, Leica, Booth Photographic, Photogenic, Lexar, Opus, Gentec, Edma, and Nadel, to name a few, will be joining us for the day with displays, information and products to demonstrate.  This is a good opportunity to speak with the sales representitaves and get the inside scoop on products.

Retail Section:
We will have a retail section set up with the latests Digital and Camera Products available to purchase.  There will be many show specials available.  We will also have a selection of used equipment available and a silent auction on some of the unique pieces.
 

  



Try your hand at action photography:  We are pleased to have Blanche Cooper and her dog agility team with us this year.  Blanche will take her dogs through their agility routine, giving our photographers a chance to try action photography.

   


Classic Cars & PT Cruisers:  We will have display of a few Classic Cars and PT Cruiser's for you to photograh.  A special thanks to all the car owners for their help with our event.

"Adobe Photo Shop Seminars" - We are pleased to have Dave Homer and Gilles Sweet-Boulay from Fanshawe College joining us again this year to host a series of Adobe Photo Workshops.  If you have a digital camera, chances are you have tried Adobe Photoshop.  This is a good workshop to attend to enter into the world of digital, come see what you can do with your images once you get them into the computer.  Dave and Gilles will have computers set up with a projection system to demonstrate different techniques.

"Easy steps to using your  Digital Camera" - Do you have a digital camera yet, thinking of purchasing a digital camera or still waiting to see what comes next!!!  If any or all of the above are on you mind than this is a good workshop to attend.  In this new digital camera age there is many questions to answer when finding what digital camera is right for you.  This seminar will help answer many of your digital questionsWe are pleased to have our own staff member Doug Burdick host this workshop, Doug also runs a series of winter camera and digital classes.

"Macro Photography and How to Light it " -  Macro photography is easy to do and easy to light Doug  Burdick from Stan C. Reade Photo will be presenting this workshop.  He will be demonstrating the use of reflectors and easy flash techniques.

"Lighting and Filter Workshop" - Dave Hill from Booth Photographic and Kinderman Photo will be hosting a workshop on the use of light and filters on outdoor photo shoots.  In this presentation you will see how using different filters, photo panels, reflectores, soft boxes and location flash units can make a dramatic difference on you end result.  You will also have  opportunity to try your hand at glamour photography.  Dave has been presenting lighting workshops in the photo industry for over 25 years.  This workshop is great for both film and digital photography."

"Looking for Printing Solutions" - The Canon Selphy Demo team will be on hand for printer and printing demonstrations.

"Scrapbooking Workshop" - With the importance of printing and preserving your images, scrapbooking is a great way to make your photo memories come alive.  Come see techniques and be creative in preserving your memories.  This is a great way to learn about this popular hobby.

Photo Shoot - Models will be on hand to give photographers the chance to take photos in all sorts of back drops and lighting situations. If you have ever though of trying your hand at Fashion or Portrait photography now is your chance. Models provided by Elegance Modeling.

Photo Fashion Show - Keep your camera handy there will be some great photo opportunities.

Colourful Costumes:  McCollughs costumers have put together some interesting costumes, which will make for great photos.


Performance by Sonja Gustafson - We are pleased to have SonjaGustafson returning to Photo Day to  perfom for us, this year's show promises to offer many photo opportunities.  Sonja was a competetor this past year on the Bravo Network's television show "Bathroom Diva's, so you want to be an opera star", if you get a chance to see the series in rerun, check it out on Bravo.  Sonja has studied music since childhood and her approach to jazz is second to none, her singing will make your visit to photo day complete.   Sonya will be accompanied  on piano by Charles Rallo, Charles is a graduate of Oscar Peterson’s Advanced School of Contemporary Music and has played in numerous Ontario bands and orchestras, including The Peter Appleyard Quartet, The Canadian Modernaires, The Gordon Delamont Big Band featuring Rob McConnell, The Ron Collier Quintet, etc,
His trio was the house band at Toronto’s Town Tavern during the 70’s backing jazz artists such as Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Carmen McCrae, Sarah Vaughan, Donald Byrd, Bobby Hackett. Rallo has toured with Mel Torme, Gloria DeHaven and has played three television specials with Tony Bennett.

 ~ Charles Rallo ~

Performance by Orlando Valencia and his Pachanga Latan Jazz Band - We are excited to present Orlando Valencia and his Pachanga Latin Jazz Band.  Orlando has been performing in different venues throughout southwestern Ontario and London, presenting the warm sounds of Latin music.  We are sure you will enjoy listening to the Cuban and Brazilian rhythms with a jazz influence.  Orlando's band is also a regular at Maggie's Supper & Jazz Club.


New Products to see:
Photo Day is a great place to preview the latest in Digital and Photo products.  We also welcome our accessory suppliers who will have camera bags, digital media accessories and much more.


Make it a Family Day:
Stan C. Reade Photo Day is lots of fun for all ages, bring the family and spend the day.  We will have a BBQ at midday, Clowns to entertaint the children, Face Painting, Balloons and a Magic Show.

 Through out the day we will be having draws for prizes.

Photo Contest:
Our annual  photo contest which runs from June 8th to July 4th.  All photo entries are displayed, winners announced and prizes presented at Photo Day. Click on the contest logo below for contest details and to see a list of prizes and categories.


All the photo entries will be on display at the Estate, we will be announcing the photo contest winners and presenting the awards during Photo Day.



Directions:
The Elsie Perrin Williams Estate is located at 101 Windemere Road at the top of the hill just west of University Hospital, the gates are on the left hand side of the road.  Traveling north on Richmond Street turn left at Windemere Road.  We will have Photo Day signs posted on Richmond Street and Windemere Road.  See Map below.
